              Founders & History

At the end of 1992, as Terry McMillan's "Waiting to Exhale" was passed from hand to hand, Gayle thought it would be a great idea to get together and discuss this much talked about book. Since we're always looking for an excuse to get together with friends, we jumped at the idea and decided to start a literary discussion group.

In Swahili, Msichana (msee Chah nah) means girl and Rafiki (rah Fee key) means friend creating the Girlfriend Literary Club...and the rest is history!!
